The Tau Beta Pi Association was founded at Lehigh University in 1885 by Edward Higginson Williams, Jr., to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.

      ~Impromptu Speaking~
      Recognize the pervasiveness of impromptu speaking: in interviews, in answering questions after a prepared speech, and in day-to-day conversation with others. Learn and practice techniques to improve coherence.

      ~Presentation Skills~
      Understand DOs and DON’Ts when giving a prepared presentation. Practice giving a group presentation.

    • Rocket Science Tutors (RST) is a volunteer organization of technical professionals and students dedicated to stimulating interest in middle school students from Santa Ana in math, science, and engineering through weekly hands-on modules. At the end of the school year, RST brings the students to UCI to tour some of the labs on campus. As a volunteer, you will be responsible for guiding a group of middle school students to each lab to watch prepared demonstrations. This will be a great opportunity for you to reach out to the community and share your experiences as an aspiring engineer and excitement for math and science!

      Day of event plan:
      Here's the plan as of now:
      The Buses are supposed to arrive at NS2 parking lot at 9:15 (which means they'll probably arrive at 9:30). We'll split the kids, taking half of them to NS2 3rd floor conference room and half to EH. At 9:45 we will start a brief safety talk and split the kids up into 3 tour groups per building. From 10 to 11:30 we'll rotate through the three labs, then return the kids to the buses for an 11:45 departure. Jolie will be the point of contact for the NS2 half and I'll manage the EH half. The first name under each lab is the person (who to my limited knowledge) is running the show.
